Sticking It Out

Relationships are strengthened when people get hurt.
If a relationship never had any flaws, there would be no strengthening.
It takes hurts to build empathy, trust, and love.
It takes fights to build stamina.
It takes guts to stick it out.
We are reminded of our past fights, and we get to a point where we can skip the emotions of the self and look at the root problem.
We can look at the other person and try to help, rather than be affected by the pain and withdraw.
When this point is reached, some maturing has taken place, and the relationship is stronger.
Fights will always come, but withstanding them is what strengthens a relationship, not avoiding them.
Some say it is 'healthy' to fight.
I say that it is strength to get through fights, but we shouldn't try to make them.
Walk humbly.
Have compassion.
Be empathetic.
Love God.
Seek God first and follow His Word, and all the other pieces will fit together on their own.
He will handle the rest.

God is making everything alright.
That's His nature.
He's a fixer.
He makes all things new.
He uses the bad for good purposes.
He wastes nothing.
You are not a mistake.
You are not worthless.
Nothing was done in your life that cannot be used somehow for good, somehow, somewhere.
He is Good.
He loves you.
He is God.

Blackberry Bushes

Blackberry bushes are where my thoughts hide,
I love the smell of the sweet oversized fruit,
They grew rampant on the streets where I use to walk,
and enjoyed my time at a coffee shop.

A carefree time I had when I was younger,
religion didn't matter, and if it did, I was saved,
Who doesn't God love anyway?
It didn't matter what I wore or how I cut my hair,
The only thing that mattered was love that was shared,

Bad days remind me of when it use to rain,
Seattle days were wonderful this way,
Who can shed tears on days when the sun came out,
and the blackberries were fresh and juicy,
waiting to be picked by those whom I loved.

When my troubles come near, I am reminded,
of days when I hoped that my friends would be there,
but I was alone, and God was there,
and I was okay. I am okay.

I would smoke cigarettes, and it wasn't a sin,
because God knew I did it, and He loved me the same,
and my friends and I talked and smoked,
and we thought it was okay (my worldview).

So when my siblings are busy filling up their lives,
and God reminds me that I have been there too,
and when this world starts to pass me by,
I will remember the days we spent,
picking blackberries.

Apple Blossom Tea

I use to think it was in the tea,
or the friends I had,
or the things I'd see,
the places I traveled would make me smile,
the love I shared was all worth-while,
I am discovering,
that all this time,
it was God who was there,
since the beginning of time,
and the joy I have felt,
has been from within,
only shining out,
and sharing a grin,
I have tasted love,
I have tasted the fruit of the Spirit,
I have shared in fellowship,
I have laughed uncontrollably,
I have cried in passion,
I have felt compassion,
and all have been through Him.
